Transcription is a critical component of capturing and producing an accurate record. CourtSmart offers the ability to transcribe recorded proceedings in a variety of ways. First, a proceeding or part of a proceeding can be reproduced onto standard CDs or DVDs. The session is burned to these media along with notes, attachments, and/or video. This is all at the option of the court to determine what and how to deliver the proceedings. Also critical is the software required to play all the recorded channels, see any annotations or video, and control the process with a foot pedal on a standard PC.
A transcriber does not need to download or purchase any software or additional hardware to be able to transcribe proceedings. All that is required is a Windows PC with a CD reader and sound card. The software required is on the CD and should automatically load and open when the CD is placed in the CD reader.
Another way to transcribe is to receive the audio file online through an FTP protocol. If the court or agency desires, this approach is easily done. Like the CD, all software is also contained in the download.
Finally, if the transcriber is on the LAN or WAN of the court or agency, they could transcribe directly from the system using CourtSmart Client software.
