CourtSmart Digital Recording Systems

CourtSmart Digital Systems, located in the suburbs of Boston, is in the business of providing the most technically advanced digital recording systems and courtroom audio/video systems that make the record in court proceedings, administrative proceedings, depositions and any other proceeding where a verbatim record is required. This unique system captures the spoken word, digitizes the analog audio/video signals and simultaneously archives these proceedings for long term storage on various types of media such as DVD-RAM drives with the same precision and clarity as digital music recordings or DVD videos.

CourtSmart allows court reporters, clerks, law enforcement officers or judges to annotate or tag each proceeding to identify speakers, events or key words for later retrieval. These notes can be kept in private as well as public files. To facilitate this process, pre-loaded case identification from case management systems can be downloaded for easy identification of parties and attorneys. Bar code scannings can also be employed to quickly enter caption information. "Quick tag" files can be customized by each user and then entered through hot keys or point and click devices such as a mouse. There is virtually no limit to the number of tags or files.

CourtSmart also allows for the capture of digitized video pictures for a more positive identification of speakers. These video images are automatically captured and time stamped along with the audio and tagging information and can be retrieved as part of the record for transcription or review by judges, court reporters or attorneys. Full motion streaming video can also be captured along with the audio. CourtSmart allows for the capture of documents and other evidence that can be associated with a session. The digitized audio is available for replay or transcription over the CourtSmart network or over telecommunication facilities. Copies of the audio and video can easily be reproduced on digital media such as CD or DVD.

Proceedings are easily found using CourtSmart's powerful search engine and the Microsoft SQL Server database. CourtSmart proprietary software operates under Windows NT/2000/XP on industry standard Pentium or AMD based servers and client workstations. CourtSmart uses standard networking and TCP/IP protocols, and can co-exist with other industry standard network operating systems such as Novell. Playback on client workstations uses industry standard soundcards such as SoundBlaster. The CourtSmart system does not require any proprietary hardware thus eliminating the restrictions that proprietary hardware often brings.
