Digital Recording Systems

CourtSmart digital recording systems are state-of-the-art software based solutions that comply with open standard architecture such as ODBC standards and require no proprietary hardware. All hardware required to capture, digitize and store audio and video proceedings are industry standard commercial off the shelf products.

CourtSmart software is designed to operate on Microsoft OS platforms and networks using TCP/IP protocols. CourtSmart can also coexist on Novell networks. More detailed functionality is provided in the numerous dropdown menus located within this site. CourtSmart has been engineering these software solutions at our headquarters in Massachusetts since 1995 and these applications are the most robust, secure and flexible digital recording solutions that are available.

CourtSmart technology is fully scalable from a laptop based portable solution to the large centrally controlled installations such as the Washington, DC Superior Courts where 94 courtrooms and 3 remote sites are all controlled, stored, and archived on CourtSmart servers.

CourtSmart audio and software engineers have designed the recording capabilities using the most comprehensive compression and sample rates. With CourtSmart, the audio and video quality can be determined by the user to optimize storage without sacrificing audio/video quality. From CD quality to whatever suits your needs, CourtSmart audio/video solutions have no equal in quality.

The CourtSmart design goal has always been to produce a fully automated audio and video recording system that could be operated remotely from any authorized workstation located anywhere connectivity is available. CourtSmart has begun implementing our first phase of automated systems. These e-systems start and stop recording automatically based upon several predefined conditions such as day, time, and ambient voice activated sound levels. CourtSmart is also implementing additional "test' functionality to assure a minimum of false positive recording conditions while ensuring that no testimony will be lost due to a start failure.

Of course all of CourtSmart recording systems can also be operated manually from any designated location such as within the courtroom, control room, or other workspace where network availability is present.

CourtSmart fault tolerant technology does not require network availability to record. In fact the majority of CourtSmart systems are implemented using multi-pair, shielded cabling thus eliminating any potential network failure issues and eliminating any impact on network bandwidth.

CourtSmart's digital recording systems stand alone at the forefront of e-court technology. Courtsmart digital recording technology has been successfully integrated with case management systems such as CourtView by Maximus. With leading edge technology, open standard compliance, non-proprietary hardware, embedded network and data security, and integration with other court technologies, CourtSmart is an integral part of your e-strategy.
