Fault Tolerant Backup Recording System

With CourtSmart's Centralized Recording System, cost effective fault tolerant redundancy is achieved. In the centralized system there is a primary and backup server operating independently of one another. The redundant backup system operates without operator intervention and records automatically based upon time, day, voice activation or a combination of the these factors. For example, the backup servers can be set to begin recording in all courtrooms at a predetermined time and/or the presence of an audio level indicating a proceeding is about to occur. The redundant servers have their own database management system and an independent DVD archiving system. In the event the primary server should drop off for any reason, the backup is running and needs no intervention as it is recording.

CourtSmart's implementation of backup server redundancy is totally independent of the primary audio recording system, and hence minimizes the possibility that a courtroom could not capture the record or would have to be stopped in the middle of a proceeding. Both servers have archive media that also operates independently. The backup servers have duplicate digital encoders and the audio feeds are separated to minimize the possibility of cable damage and hence lost audio. Without a second completely redundant system, there is no true backup. CourtSmart is the only company that offers a completely redundant, fault tolerant backup system.
